In the early days........

 

 

Modderfontein Golf Club was founded in 1935. The course was designed by ArthurTomsett and opened by Bobby Locke.

 

In 1990  ,the course was upgraded and re-designed by Hugh Baiochi with 10 dams and 3 meandering streams to ensure enough water supply year round. This makes the course very suitable for all grades of player.

 

The clubhouse was upgraded in 1997, and now boasts facilities capable of hosting weddings ,conferences and up market golf days. We are currently ranked in the Top 50 of the top 100 golf courses country wide by Golf Digest.

 

We host the Central Gauteng Northern Amateur , which is the 2nd biggest amateur tournament in South Africa . Formerly the Transvaal Open, it has as previous holders the cream of South African amateurs who went on to be first class professionals.

 

We also host approximately 110 corporate and charity golf days per year. This totals, including our members and pro-am day rounds, in excess of 40,000 rounds of golf per year.
